Thousand Lakes is one of our favorite campgrounds in the United States. It's in a spectacular location in a quiet valley with mountains to the south and a prominent outcropping of red rock cliffs just to the north. The sunsets were among the most beautiful we've seen anywhere - the cliffs really glow. The campground owners are very friendly and helpful and are continually working on improvements and upgrades. Try the homemade muffins they bake every morning!

About Thousand Lakes

Thousand Lakes RV Park is a family-owned business, hand-built by John Reilly, his wife Vally and their family in the winter of 1989 and 1990.

Why did they choose to build an RV Park in Torrey, Utah? "For the same reason, we decided to make Torrey our home" says John. "Torrey, reminded us of Sedona, Arizona before Sedona was "discovered." Both areas have fantastic vistas that seem to go on forever. We also thought that an RV park would be a fun business to operate because we would meet people from all over the U.S. and Europe. We used our life's savings to build the RV park, cabins, gift shop and other guest services."

Did the gamble pay off? "Yes, in many ways. We have been able to make a living in an area that we believe is one of the most breathtaking in the world. We have traveled to many places, and we both agree that this is where we wish to be. We have met so many wonderful people here. Many of our customers come back every year. Our return rate is over thirty percent, which is something we are very proud of. This even holds true for customers from Europe."

Thousand Lakes RV Park is now operated by the 2nd generation, daughter Hafdis Maw and her husband Delynn. Like John and Vally, they do their best to provide what each customer wants with an honest smile. "There is a lot of satisfaction when you see your customers enjoying themselves. We are now seeing second generation visitors at Thousand Lakes with their children!"
